What About The Children
Kick ball, double dutch, bat & balls… the echo of children’s laughter resonating throughout the community. Do you remember running, skipping and jumping…
What happened to the days of good ole clean fun? We’re living in a lost society. A generation that is foreign to the reality of really enjoying the simple things in life. There were times when we used to enjoy making our own toys. We would draw hop scotch on the ground and stay out on the front porch laughing and singing until the street lights came on.
Times have changed so drastically, instead of the laughter, we hear gun shots and police sirens. The street corners are crowded with idle young men clueless of their hidden identity, their untapped potential. Jails and correctional institutions are overcrowded with young people. “It’s like a revolving door, kids come in and out due to not having an adequate support system and role models,” commented Kevin Speed, Youth Correctional Officer at the Youth Services Center, located in Washington, D.C.
Catch Them Young, Inc. is committed to making a difference in the lives of our youth. It’s time out for continuing to talk about the problem, it’s time for us to do something about the plight and societal ills that are plaguing this generation. CTY is making a difference. We’re training our youth in a spirit of excellence in a society where anything goes. We’re equipping them to effectively overcome the challenges that they must overcome to live productive lives.
